Lack of Sidewalks Safety Concern in Burien

Our latest What's Driving You Crazy takes us to Burien, where one KOMO viewer says the lack of sidewalks in a busy part of the city is a safety issue for walking students.

Fourth Avenue SW between SW 154th and 160th doesn't have sidewalks.

Kari B. writes, "the kids that go to Sylvester Middle School are having to walk it daily and it's simply not safe."

The City of Burien's spokesperson says Fourth Ave. is a high priority corridor and they're always looking for more funding sources. Burien has submitted applications for various sidewalk grants, but hasn't made the cut.

The city says sidewalks are considered an infrastructure issue and there is a need city-wide for upgrades, but the cost is too high given the current revenue.
