'Beast Quake' repeat? Seismologists to monitor Seahawks playoff game
SEATTLE - If you're headed to the game this weekend, scientists will monitor your every move.
Seismologists will be watching how much fans at the Seahawks' playoff game against the Detroit Lions this weekend stomp and shake with every score.
The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network are installing new portable sensors Thursday to provide real-time monitoring of ground vibrations generated by Seahawks fans during the game.
The organization did the same thing two years ago for the last Seahawks home playoff game.
In 2011, a 67-yard touchdown by Seahawks running-back Marshawn Lynch caused a 'Beast Quake', eliciting enough cheering and movement from 67,000 screaming fans to register on local seismographs.
