It's tax time and that means hackers are using the trusted TurboTax brand to target victims.

If you want to buy TurboTax software, don't search on line, warns digital security expert Kim Komando. You could get a pirated version loaded with malware.

That's why it's important to buy your software directly from the manufacturer Intuit or go to a store you trust.

A heads up for those who already have TurboTax: Watch out for malicious email designed to download malware or steal your personal info. Intuit will never send an email with an attachment labeled as a "software update" and they will never email you asking for your login, passwords, banking or credit card info.
