SEATTLE -- It seems like every day now, someone is accused of sexual abuse or sexual assault. The shame and guilt that’s kept so many silent for so long has given way to a need for speaking out publicly and confronting the perpetrators.

This all started after scores of women came forward to point the finger at Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. While such allegations were often quickly dismissed in the past, this time the accusations were taken seriously – and the repercussions were swift and severe.

On the KOMO Midday News (weekdays 1-3pm), Wendy Patrick, a prosecutor in California who specializes in dealing with sexual assault, talked about her take on what’s happening and why she expects more victims to come forward. (Click the picture above to hear the audio).
