United Airlines flight makes emergency landing in Hawaii after engine cover flies off
HONOLULU (ABC7) —
Passengers on a United Airlines flight Tuesday had quite the scare when pilots called for an emergency landing after an engine cowling—or the cover of the engine—flew off mid-flight.
According to airline officials, United flight 1175 was traveling to Honolulu from San Francisco when the emergency call was made.
Erik Haddad, who was on the plane at the time, shot video of the engine from his seat and shared it on Twitter with the caption: "that looks bad, plane and simple."
Officials say the plane landed safely and all of the passengers deplaned normally.
