Emaciated puppy found in pile of trash in north Baltimore (BARCS)

BALTIMORE (WBFF) - An emaciated puppy was found under a pile of trash in a north Baltimore neighborhood, reported BARCS Animal Shelter on Thursday.

The dog, named Henrietta, was found by a landlord in the Kenilworth Park neighborhood on Wednesday, said BARCS in a news release.

When the landlord went to check on his rental property, he found it filled with trash, the tenant nowhere to be found. He also heard an animal whimpering.

Animal control found the dog "and just a bowl of water, thrown away just like the trash piled on top of her. Skin, bones and too weak to walk, she was scooped up and brought straight to BARCS. She looked like she was too far gone but then showed us that she still had hope, by wagging her tail when BARCS Veterinary Technician Arick S. cupped her face in his hands," reported BARCS.

The dog is now fighting for her life at a clinic emergency room. She weighs 12 pounds but should weigh 30 to 40 pounds.

"She has already endured a great amount of abuse and neglect, but we are going to fight for her so that she can live the happy and healthy life she should have had all along," said BARCS, urging the public to support its Franky Fund for animals like Henrietta. There is simply no reason or explanation to justify what happened to her. If ever a pet owner cannot care for their animal, BARCS and agencies like Animal Control are here to help.
