Yakima woman turns 103: 'Secret to long life is lots of chocolate'
YAKIMA, Wash. (KIMA) - Mable Smith, who was born and raised in Yakima, is celebrating her 103rd birthday.
Smith turned 103 on November 18 and celebrated with her 3 children, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandkids.
Smith said her family is very important to her, and they are a part of many of her favorite memories.
Smith told KIMA-TV News her secret to living a long life is chocolate.
“I don’t know, good luck,” she said. “Veggies and chocolate and lots and lots of chocolate, especially Hershey’s.”
Over her lifetime she said she never thought she would see someone go to the moon.
Smith also said all of the innovations over the years amaze her, especially the cell phone.
