Woman thrown from SUV in deadly rollover crash
NEAR KENT, Wash. - A deadly rollover crash shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Kent for hours Friday night.
The crash occurred just after 11 p.m. near State Route 516, Washington State Patrol says.
Troopers say a woman died when an SUV driving southbound with three other people inside crashed into another vehicle and then flipped into a median.
Troopers say the impact of the collision was so strong that the woman was ejected from the vehicle and thrown into oncoming traffic in the northbound lanes.
Several vehicles hit the woman, troopers say.
A driver in a white sedan swerved to avoid the scene and went off the freeway. The driver has minor injuries, troopers say.
The three other people in the SUV suffered minor injuries.
Troopers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash and are questioning the three other people who were in the SUV at the time of the crash.
It is unclear who was driving the SUV. Authorities say the driver could face vehicular homicide charges.
