ENUMCLAW, Wash. -- Four people were thrown from a vehicle and two of them died after a crash on State Route 164 west of Enumclaw early Tuesday morning.
A Kia passenger vehicle with four people inside collided with a pickup truck at about 1 a.m. on SR 164 and 196th Ave. SE, just south of the White River Amphitheatre, according to the Washington State Patrol. The impact sent the pickup into a pole, causing power lines to come down over the roadway.
The two others in the Kia were airlifted to the hospital. The driver of the pickup was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Investigators have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were involved. Roads were reportedly icy in the area, and speed was supposedly a factor in the crash. Right now, troopers believe the Kia was the causing vehicle.
Both directions of traffic are currently blocked for the crash investigation and removing the power lines from the roadway.
