BLAINE, Wash. -- An 18-year-old woman was killed in a crash caused by a suspected DUI driver Wednesday morning, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The woman was riding with a 20-year-old man west on SR-542 near Deming just after midnight when the driver hit the guardrail at Marshall Hill Road. The car spun across the road, hit a guardrail on the other side of the road, and flipped over.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to a Bellingham hospital, but the extent of his injuries is not known.

Troopers say drugs and/or alcohol is a factor in the crash and the driver will likely face charges.
