State Patrol: Thurston Co. suspect crashes after police chase, flees on foot
NISQUALLY, Wash. - Police are searching for a suspect who led state troopers on a chase along a rural Thurston County highway before crashing and fleeing on foot.
The incident unfolded around 11:15 a.m. when a trooper tried to pull over a vehicle for speeding on State Route 510, the Washington State Patrol reported.
The suspect refused to stop and took off down the highway. Troopers pursued the vehicle, but then broke off the chase due to traffic.
Meanwhile, the suspect kept passing other vehicles until eventually crashing near the intersection with Muck Creek Road, troopers said.
The suspect then jumped out of the vehicle and took off running.
Troopers are now searching for him. He is described as a light-skinned man in a black shirt and shorts.
State Route 510 was closed at the crash scene during the investigation but is expected to reopen soon.
