Sheriff: Domestic violence suspect threatens deputies with machete
BENTON CITY, Wash. - A man suspected of assaulting his wife and fleeing the scene was arrested after he threatened deputies with a machete, officials said.
The drama unfolded Tuesday at about 9 p.m. as Benton County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence disturbance at a home in the area of 13th Street and Neptune Avenue.
When deputies arrived, the suspect was fleeing in his work van. Deputies tracked down the van and pulled the man over.
As the suspect emerged from the vehicle, he was armed with a machete, sheriff's officials said.
However, he quickly dropped the machete and was taken into custody.
