SEATTLE - A mobile pipeline protest blocked some streets in downtown Seattle for about two hours Friday, creating traffic backups and confusion.

Protesters initially blocked all lanes of Fourth Avenue near Pine Street, but later began moving around, blocking lanes on Pine Street, 3rd Avenue, 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue at different times.

The streets were all cleared by 3 p.m.

Up to 100 protesters staged the peaceful demonstration against the Keystone Pipeline, said Mark Jamieson of the Seattle police.

Extra bike patrols responded to the scene to monitor the situation, Jamieson said.
