Power outages close some schools in Puget Sound region

More than 26,000 customers are still without power after Monday's powerful windstorm, closing or cancelling programs at some schools in the Puget Sound region.

Here is a rundown:

- Lake Stevens High School is closed for the day.

- Central Kitsap Middle School is closed for the day.

- Kenmore Middle School is closed for the day; no elementary music program; no before or after school activities.

- In the Bellevue School District, localized power outages have closed Bennett Elementary, Tyee Middle School and International School for the day.

- At Seattle Central College, all classes at the Capitol Hill Broadway campus are canceled before 1 p.m. All other locations are open

- In the Lake Washington School District, before and after school care at Franklin Elementary is canceled.

Many homes and businesses are also without power. Puget Sound Energy reports about 17,000 remaining power outages, Seattle City Light, 6,300; Snohomish PUD, 600; and Grays Harbor, 2,000.
