Man critically injured as motorcycle disintegrates in crash with car
PUYALLUP, Wash. - A motorcyclist is in very critical condition after crashing into a car with such force that his motorcycle disintegrated on impact, Puyallup police said.
Officers and medics responded to the scene, at 9th Street SW and Highway 512, at about 6:15 a.m Thursday after receiving reports of a possible fatal crash, said Puyallup police spokesman Scott Engle.
The motorcyclist was found clinging to life. He was rushed to the hospital.
A preliminary investigation found that the motorcyclist was heading south on 9th Street when he collided with a car making a left turn onto the westbound Highway 512 on-ramp. The motorcycle disintegrated on impact, Engle said.
Lanes of 9th Street are closed at the scene during the cleanup and investigation.
