Man struck and killed overnight after jumping from car on I-5
SEATAC, Wash. - A young man was killed when he jumped out of a car heading up Interstate 5 early Thursday and was struck by multiple vehicles. The crash blocked multiple lanes of I-5 for hours.
Troopers and medics responded to the scene, the northbound lanes of I-5 near South 178th Street, at about 12:20 a.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck on the freeway.
According to troopers, the 19-year-old man was riding with his mother in a 1995 Kia Sephia when he jumped out of the car and was struck by multiple other vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man's motive for jumping has not been released.
All lanes of northbound I-5 have reopened following the investigation.
