RENTON, Wash. -- A float plane was found in the water near Gene Coulon Memorial Park on Sunday afternoon in Renton, according to Renton Firefighters.

Renton Firefighters says they responded to the incident after reports of a small plane in the water near the park and reports of the wing sticking out of the water.

When crews arrived, they were able to reach the pilot, who was the only person on the plane and reportedly had minor injuries.

Rick Marshall with Renton Fire says the plane did not crash into the water and they do not know the circumstances of the incident. When crews arrived, the plane was almost fully submerged in the water.

The plane is being towed to Renton Airport by Mercer Island Fire.

Crews are now working on mitigating any fuel leaks or other hazards into Lake Washington, according to Renton Firefighters.
