Mother arrested in death of her 9-year-old son in Kitsap County
SEABECK, Wash. - Kitsap County Sheriff's detectives say a 9-year-old boy died from “obvious homicidal violence” at a home in a rural area near the Hood Canal town of Seabeck.
Ryan Rosales's 47-year-old mother has also been arrested on suspicion of 2nd degree murder.
Detectives were called to the home, in the 11400 block of Symes Road NW, just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, after receiving a 911 call requesting help with CPR in progress on a 9-year-old child there, said Kitsap County Sheriff's Office spokesman Scott Wilson.
Investigators said first responders got the 911 call from the child’s dad and when they got to the home, they found the Green Mountain Elementary third grader unconscious and unresponsive in a bedroom.
Detectives said first responders noticed the scene looked “unusual,” so they called detectives who launched an investigation.
“We have reached the conclusion that the death of the child was due to obvious homicidal violence, that’s the term we’re using. We can’t specify exactly,” said Wilson.
Deputies said the father had not been arrested.
The boy's mom is being held on $1,000,000 bail.
An autopsy on the boy's body is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
School leaders at Green Mountain Elementary said they will have grief counselors on hand to help students Wednesday.
Officials said their thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and friends.
The quiet community was left shocked and speechless by Ryan’s death.
“I’m truly sorry that this happened,” said neighbor Alan Wymer. “I’ve got grandkids that age, so it hits home, so I just don’t know what to say.”
