SHELTON, Wash. -- The investigation has widened regarding three elderly Seattle brothers accused of sex crimes against children.

Detectives are now looking at them in relation to the murder of a teenage girl three decades ago in Shelton.

Seventeen-year-old Tracy West disappeared while on her way to work at a Taylor Towne restaurant south of Shelton on Oct. 20, 1988. Her dirt bike was found on the trail she normally took to work through the woods. But her body wasn't found until six years had passed.

"I would like it closed," said her uncle Tom Randall. He has been hoping for closure, but he said this latest development is disturbing.

Detectives are checking a possible connection with the Seattle police investigation into elderly brothers Edwin, Thomas and Charlie Emery. They are charged with possession of child porn and believed connected to sex crimes against children, especially girls.

"I really hope it wasn't these guys," said Randall. "That just doesn't sound like a way to die." The family has long feared that Tracy was tortured before she died. "Oh yes," said Randall. "Because her hands were bound behind her back, we know that."

The sheriff said there is no direct link to her murder, but the brothers are connected to a home in Shelton seven miles from where West disappeared.

"We don't know of any connection at this time," said Mason County Sheriff Casey Salisbury, "But as in any type of case like this if any information should develop out of this we would take that path to investigate that."

"It was a shock," said Steve Bloomfield of Shelton. He was a patron of the restaurant where Tracy worked and remembers the case well. "It's a tragedy in the community. The community was hurt by it, and of course, there's always ties to other communities around with Lindsey Baum in McCleary.

The three brothers are now being investigation for any possible connection with Lindsey's disappearance in 2009. A missing person's flier with her picture on it reportedly was found in the Shelton home.

Cadaver dog teams reportedly are set to search the Shelton home and 15-acre, heavily wooded property Saturday.
