Idaho teen who went missing after prom dies days later in vehicle crash

The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office says was called out to a possible suicidal subject heading west on Sunny Side Bench Road near Lenore when police say he lost control of the vehicle and rolled over a small embankment.

An Idaho teenager who made statewide headlines earlier this week when he went missing after his prom last weekend has died in an automobile crash.

The Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called out to a possible suicidal subject heading west on Sunny Side Bench Road near Lenore Wednesday afternoon when he lost control of the vehicle and rolled over a small embankment.

Deputies say the driver, Kristian Branden Perez, had taken his parent's Chevy Tahoe without their permission and was speeding at the time of the crash. The vehicle rolled several times before it went over the embankment.

Perez had recently been taken into custody on a runaway charge after authorities found a tuxedo jacket, a shoe and a broken cell phone near the vehicle he arrived at prom.

He was later found inside an Orofino home earlier this week.
