Horse, rider rescued after tumbling down cliff near Green River

AUBURN, Wash. - A horse and rider were rescued after they tumbled down a cliff Thursday morning near Green River in Auburn.

A South King Fire & Rescue spokesperson said the horse and rider fell about 100 feet down a steep hillside near O'Grady Park, rolling several times.

Rescuers responded at around 10:30 a.m. and found the horse had suffered minor injuries.

Crews got the horse back on its feet, then spent the next two hours extricating it and leading it out of the dense woods.

The rider also walked out.

The horse is being checked out by a veterinarian and the rider by medical personnel.
