Group of people attacks off-duty police officer in Des Moines
DES MOINES, Wash. -- An off-duty police officer was attacked Saturday evening by a group of young adults at the Redondo Beach launch in Des Moines, according to the Des Moines Police Department.
Police say the officer was trying to get his boat out of the water and asked the group to move their vehicles out of the way so he could get his boat.
When the officer got his trailer and tried to get his boat out, the group reportedly started threatening him and punched him in the head.
One person in the group then went and got a gun and pointed it at the officer, according to police.
Police say that the group then scattered, possibly because others were recording the incident. Police are working to get video from the incident.
There is no suspect in custody and the police officer, who was not identified and is not part of the Des Moines Police Department, suffered minor injuries.
