AURORA, Colo. - Former Seahawks safety Anthony "T.J." Cunningham was shot to death Monday during a dispute over a parking spot in Aurora, Colo., sheriff's officials said.
Cunningham, 46, also was a former football standout at the University of Colorado and was currently an assistant principal at Hinkley High School in Aurora.
Authorities say he was shot by a neighbor, 31-year-old Marcus Johnson, in a parking lot between two middle schools where they met to settle a longstanding dispute over a parking spot.
Johnson was arrested Monday and is now being held on a first-degree murder charge.
Cunningham was a receiver and defensive back in college. He was a safety for the Seahawks in 1996 before injuries ended his playing career.
University of Colorado athletic director Rick George said Cunningham was an active alum and his death is a tragic loss.
