SKYWAY, Wash -- The King County Sheriff's Office says a man officers believe is responsible for multiple arson fires south of Seattle has been arrested.

He was arrested not far from where one of the fires had been set. There have been at least seven fires in the area around the 12900 block of Beacon Cole Mine Road South. At least two fires were in Tukwila, two were in Renton and three were in unincorporated King County.

Detectives think the suspect started brush fires, burned vehicles and broke into a building and stole items before starting a fire inside.

Tuesday morning, a witness called police to say the suspect had started a fire near the railroad tracks near Beacon Cole Mine Road South.

But the suspect couldn't be found.

Detectives returned Wednesday morning after BNSF police said a computer with a tracking device was pinging near Beacon Cole Mine Road South. The computer had been stolen in one of the arson fires.

Detectives tracked the computer to a camp in the woods where the suspect was apparently living.

The Sheriff's Office says other items stolen in the arson fires were also found in the camp.

The suspect, 40 , and from Arkansas, was arrested and booked into jail.
