Alaska Airlines, Virgin America offer discount fares for family of shooting victims
PORTLAND, Ore. – Alaska Airlines and Virgin America are offering “deeply discounted” travel rates for anyone with an immediate family member or domestic partner who was injured in the Las Vegas shooting.
The two companies are also allowing travelers with tickets to or from Las Vegas to change their flights or request a full refund.
Alaska Airlines is offering to change or refund tickets to or from Las Vegas that were purchased on or before Oct. 1. However, to qualify, fliers must be traveling between Oct. 1 and Oct 3.
Virgin America is allowing travelers to make changes if they planned to travel between Monday, Oct. 2 and Sunday, Oct. 8.
“Like many with friends and family visiting or living in Las Vegas, Alaska Airlines is reaching out to make sure our employees in the area are safe,” said Shaunta Hyde, Alaska Airlines’ managing director of community relations. “We’re also standing by ready to assist our guests and those injured or killed by this senseless shooting.”
