2 men killed, 2 women injured in horrific Skagit County crash
SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. - Two men were killed and two young women were injured in a horrific crash overnight near Sedro-Woolley, the Washington State Patrol reports.
State troopers and medics responded to the scene, about four miles north of Sedro-Woolley on Highway 9 near Mosier Road, at about 10:50 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious crash.
A wrecked GMC Yukon SUV was found at the crash scene with four people inside.
The driver, identified as Jonathan E. Egleston, 30, of Sedro-Woolley, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, identified as Jason A. Swanson, 24, of Sedro-Woolley, also was pronounced dead, troopers said.
Two 18-year-old women in the SUV were injured. One was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The other was taken to Skagit Valley Hospital.
A preliminary investigation found that the SUV was headed south on Highway 9 when the driver lost control on a curve. The vehicle crashed into a power pole on the other side of the highway, then plowed into a cement barrier before coming to rest on the shoulder.
The highway was closed at the scene for about four hours during the cleanup and investigation, but has since reopened.
