Scott Carty reviews 'Queen of Katwe,' 'Storks'

Lupita Nyong is in Disney's "Queen of Katwe."

There are two very good movie choices for adults and kids this weekend--something that can be enjoyed as a family, with great laughs and tremendous inspiration.

"Queen of Katwe" from Disney is one of the most inspirational movies this year. It’s the true story of Phiona, a 9-year-old girl from Uganda who was introduced to the game of chess by a man named Robert Katende. Through Katende’s program, Phiona discovered amazing skills at chess, while gaining confidence in life and mastering the game.

Although there’s tremendous star power in "Queen of Katwe" with David Oyelowo as Robert Katende and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as Phiona’s mother. But the kids are the ones who really shine in this film.

"Queen of Katwe" is PG.

If you’re after animation, "Storks" is a ton of fun. In an effort to remain competitive as a business, the storks go from baby deliveries to delivering packages for Amazon.com knock-off CornerStore.com. But things take a turn back to babies when Tulip (Katie Crown) accidentally fires up the factory and Andy Samberg’s character, Junior, has to work out of a jam.

"Storks" is filled with other big-name voices from Jennifer Aniston, Ty Burrell, Kelsey Grammer, Keeghan Michael Key and Jordan Peele to name just a few.

Guaranteed laughs in "Storks." It’s PG.
