America's favorite supermarkets

The internet may be the most satisfying place to shop, but brick-and-mortar stores still have a lot going for them, especially supermarkets.

Nearly every major food retailer scored higher this year for customer satisfaction in the just-released American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Retail Report.

“Supermarkets clearly understand that they have to step-up their game, “said ACSI managing director David VanAmburg. “They need to make sure they have all the brands anyone could want, within reason, and then offer the sales and promotions to get people into the store.”

Trader Joe’s dropped one point from last year’s survey, but still scored an extremely high 85 out of 100.

Costco had an 83, Sam’s Club an 82.

Kroger, which owns QFC and Fred Meyer, tied Whole Foods at 81.

Walmart takes the bottom position again this year, dropping a point to 73.

By the way: in the internet category, Amazon saw its score drop by 1 percent to 85.
